Ian Kirkwood's broadsword hilts ...made in Scotland
Here are some of the basket sword hilts I have made, all named after local Scottish glens or localities and supplied on wooden display stands.
Full sword and sheath options are also available to collectors and historical fencers and are illustrated below.
The 'Rannoch' New design with stag, pines and eagle
The 'Atholl' Modelled on a design c.1730
The 'Glen Shee' New design with flock of lapwings
The 'Glen Isla' Modelled on a design c.1680
Most of my hilts are supplied on wooden display stands. Blades, if required, are made to order by Paul MacDonald in Edinburgh from EN45 spring steel. These can be supplied blunt for historical fencing/re-enactment, or sharp.
The sheath is leather-covered wood with brass mounts, all modelled after historical examples and made to match your individual blade. Tony O'Conner is the craftsman.
